Dr. Dan Harrison went to be with the Lord on May 18, 2003. He is best known for his leadership of the URBANA Intervarsity Mission Conference in Urbana, Illinois, where students are exposed to God’s call on their lives. Most recently, he was involved in the formation of a new Christian university in China.
Jon Lewis, a senior executive at Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF), has been appointed President/CEO of Partners International, an international organization that strengthens the work and witness of the Christian Church in the least Christian regions of the world. He begins his new assignment mid-August, replacing the Rev. Paul-Gordon Chandler, who announced in February that he would step down to become Rector of the Church of St. John the Baptist in Cairo, Egypt, and assist the Anglican Bishop of Egypt and North Africa in the outreach efforts of that diocese.
The Purpose-Driven Life, by Rick Warren, is a finalist for The Evangelical Christian Publishers Association’s prestigious Christian Book of the Year Award. The book teaches that God created individuals with five distinct purposes in mind: worship, fellowship, discipleship, ministry and missions.
